Where play, puppets and performance collide…

What is a Puppening?

It is part ritual, part romp, part rebellion against adulthood. It’s where puppets and people meet in spontaneous play. It is a public participatory event, often outdoors, always free and intended for adults.

No two Puppenings are alike - each is an unfolding surprise.

The Latest Puppening

Our most recent Puppening was a free two-hour gathering where adults pressed pause on the everyday to play, connect, and imagine together. At its heart was the large-scale Nose Tree assemblage, brought to life through puppetry, storytelling and co-created mini-scripts.

Guests were welcomed by whimsical nose puppets, ushered into the space by Monique Islam and Carlo Aguilera as The Nurturing Nose and The Nose Guide. Storyteller Rae DeVine carried us deeper into the legend as The Ancestral Nose, while Hanfei Tu led a gentle “nose-first” breath reset before the play unfolded freely.

It was a hands-on celebration of creativity, curiosity and collective imagination.
